Family Road Trip Part 2: Niagara
I LOVE road trips. They’re my favorite way to see the world and create your own adventures. I’ve decided that it’s about time that you see some of my road trips from the past few years and experience everything I’ve seen. This is the road trip I took with my parents and brother north.
In the last two weeks of my summer vacation 2017, my family decided to take a road trip up the East Coast. This trip, we made major stops in Pittsburgh, Niagara, and Toronto, with smaller day-stops along the way. This is Part 2: Niagara.
I’ve always wanted to see Niagara Falls, so this was a major stop for me. Exploring the city and waterfront was as exciting as the Regatta in Pittsburgh, even though I’m pretty sure we walked too many miles to count. Since our hotel was on the Canadian side (check out the view!!), we explored the American side of the falls first, including the state park and the high views. The best part was Cave of the Winds, where we walked on wooden structures right next to the falls and were absolutely soaked! The next day on the Canadian side, we rode around the SkyWheel, the Botanical Garden (with the COOLEST tree houses I’ve ever seen), the Canadian version of Maid of the Mist (in which we drove the boat far enough into the falls that we couldn’t seen anything but mist!), and enjoyed a fireworks display. Canada was celebrating its 150th year of independence, so we encountered countless Canada 150 signs and objects. We explored Niagara Falls’s indoor attractions, the Whirlpool Aero Car, the Butterfly Conservatory, Journey Behind the Falls, and the White Water Walk (in which we walked right along the rushing river). Overall, it was an incredibly memorable stop on our journey, and I hope to go again in my future.
