National Gallery of Art Engagement | DC Wedding Photographer | Emma & Josh

When I got the email a few months ago that a bridesmaid from my very first wedding just got engagement and wanted me to take photos of her and her fiance, I couldn’t have been more excited. After last minute reschedulings and location changes, two days ago I finally got to meet Emma and Josh again at the National Gallery of Art in DC for their engagement photos. They brought along one of Josh’s visiting friends, who did the most to get behind the scenes shots and be a full tourist simultaneously. We first used the beautiful West Building entrance and surrounding gardens to get some outdoor shots (including a few with their matching sunglasses), but very soon ran inside to the air conditioning to escape the classic DC heat. The lighted underground walkway between the two art buildings is very well known in the DC photography community, so there was no way we would miss the opportunity to get some shots “under the stars.” The rest of our session we spent exploring the East Building, allowing the newer building to guide us to some unique architectural standings as well as some modern art (the giant blue rooster was by far Emma’s favorite). Overall, the blistering heat and Josh’s trip down the stairs were well worth it. Congratulations on your engagement, and have the best move to California today!!
