I can’t believe this session really happened. It felt like a dream throughout the whole experience: it was absolutely PERFECT. Four years ago, I played Ultimate Frisbee with Maddie in high school, and a few months ago I got an email asking to shoot her engagement photos. I couldn’t believe it. After so many years, it was so nice to reconnect with my old friend and her new fiance. At the beginning of the session, I told Maddie and Steven that they had my permission to be cute at any moment, but it quickly became clear that they didn’t need my permission at all. These two are so clearly in love with each other and with life, and it was such a pleasure exploring Burke Lake together. We braved the cold and mud and walked around half the lake to find the perfect spots. Just within the session, we were out on the fishing pier, in the forest, on the lakeside, and on top of a beautiful hill, and as we walked we caught up and talked about wedding planning. We ended the session in the boatyard, inspired by Steven’s proposal: earlier this year, he took Maddie out onto one of the rowboats and asked her to be his wife in the middle of the lake. This was such a relaxing and fun session, and I am so honored to capture this wonderful time in their lives. Congratulations Maddie and Steven!!
