City Winery DC Wedding | DC Wedding Photographer | Sawyer & Alex

The kick-off event of the summer was without a doubt Sawyer and Alex’s wedding. Not only was it filled with tons of surprises to keep us all on our toes, but it was just an overall fun day.

Leading up to this wedding, I knew it was going to be smooth. Sawyer and Alex had the times planned out to the minute in a color-coordinated schedule with all the vendor information and photography timeline. Sawyer had a box of her details when I arrived and was getting ready in the most gorgeous window-lit bridal suite. The ceremony and reception areas were right night to each other and completely set up by Alex, Sawyer, and Sawyer’s mother before anyone got there. Alex “did the math” and helped construct the arch that was in their ceremony. Aside from a makeup emergency thanks to a fender-bender that threw our timeline around like a rag-doll, the day went off without a hitch.

At the end of a heart-wrenching ceremony that was officiated by a friend, all of Sawyer and Alex’s friends and family threw paper airplanes down the aisle to commemorate all the travel this couple has done together and how far they will go in the future. Each of the toasts and speeches during dinner showed just how much this couple was loved and how much they loved each other. With one final surprise of the night, a live cover band came from backstage and we jammed the rest of the night away.

I’ve known Alex for a few years now and I never thought I would get to witness him marry the love of his life, let alone photograph him doing it. Thank you for trusting me with such a big moment in your lives, and I hope you two have many more adventures together. Congratulations Sawyer and Alex!!
